Request for Information (RFI)

A market-research request - no contract is awarded from it.

A Request for Information (RFI) is used by the government to gather market intelligence before issuing a solicitation. Responding to an RFI is a key shaping activity: it lets you educate the customer, demonstrate capability, and influence the eventual requirement. No award is made from an RFI.
